Field experiments were conducted during Kharif 2010-2011 and 2011-12, at the field of College of Agriculture, Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani (Maharashtra). Twenty two germplasm were screened for tolerance against major insect pests of soybean. During 2010 Genotypes DSb 16 (2199.1kg/ha) with the highest yield under unprotected conditions was considered as tolerant check. Among the entries tested, two entries viz., SL-799, DSb-16 and three checks JS 93-05, JS-335 and MAUS-158 were categorized as high yielding entries. During 2011, the per cent yield loss in different genotypes ranged from 14.35 (PS 1466) to 61.56 (JS 97-52). Under protected and unprotected conditions yield obtained from JS 93-05 (1621.31 kg/ha) to DS 12-13 (2526.61 kg/ha) and from PS 1466 (1089.65 kg/ha) to DSb 16 (2199.06 kg/ha). Among the entries PS-1466 categorized as resistant high yielding entry.Keywords

The stemfly (Melanagromyza sojae, Zehntner) and girdle beetle (Obereopsis brevis Swedenbord) are two major pests of soybean in this region during Kharif crop. It was felt imperative to develop IPM for these pests hence, this experimentation was carried out. Data revealed that MAU IPM module was effective in reducing the infestation of girdle beetle (6.30%) and stem fly (7.95%), whereas in chemical control infestation was (7.35%) and (8.02%) per cent in girdle beetle and stem fly, respectively. Considering the stem tunneled length it was found that girdle beetle and stem fly was (12.14%) and (15.54%) in MAU IPM module whereas in chemical control, it was (14.56%) and (15.17%) by girdle beetle and stem fly, respectively. Cost benefit ratio of these methods were compared, it was found that CBR was highest (1:7.65) in MAU IPM module followed by chemical control (1:5.82). MAU IPM module included the eco-friendly and sustainable methods to manage these major regular pests of soybean and which was found effective and economical methods.Keywords

Experiment was conducted during Kharif 2015 -2016 at field of Department of Agricultural Entomology, Post Graduate Institute, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola, to study efficacy of Qninalphos 25 EC against gall fly and capsule borer of Sesamum. Seasmum crop is attacked by number of insect pest throughout growing season. Leaf roller/capsule borer, Antigastra catalaunalis Dup. and sesamum gall fly is important, as it is regular in occurrence and thus a major pest. Quinalphos is contact and stomach poison having cholinesterase inhibiting action control many insect pests of the orders Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, Diptera and Hemiptera. As per behaviour of these pests it is essential to apply insecticide at proper growth stage of crop to avoid losses. Quinalphos 25 EC @ 2 ml / lit. of water applied at 15, 30 and 45 days after crop emergence therefore prove effective against leaf webber, gall fly and capsule borer.Keywords

Field experiments were conducted during kharif 2010-2011 and 2011-12, in the field of Department of Agricultural Entomology, College of Agriculture, Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani (Maharashtra). During this experiment, significantly highest population (1.70 LB/5 plants) of lady bird beetle,(1.00 chrysopa /5 plants) of chrysopa and (1.60 spiders /5 plants) of spider were observed in untreated control and were at par with MAU IPM module. Significantly lowest population was observed in chemical control treatments.
